The world premiere of Liz Duffy Adams' Dog Act is produced by the scrappy but resourceful Shotgun Players, under the direction of Kent Nicholson who riveted audiences this summer with Dave Eggers' Sacrament!. In a post-apocalyptic setting where only the vaudevillian is sacred, pitting tramp against tramp in a fight for survival, Dog has a dark secret; only his redemption offers a way out from the rubble of ruined civilization. Adams' language is pithy, inventive, and riotously funny, and the surprisingly effective re-creation of a vaudeville act, enlivened by Stewart Port's scruffy "found object" instruments, adds just the right combination of hilarity and homage.
