Splashing
into the world of Mascara has been an artistic baptism. Searching
for the appropriate theatrical incarnation of this fairy tale has been
a shuttle from the past to the present, arriving at the retro-future
utopia you see before you. A land where anything is possible and everything
is disguised. A court of color, texture, shape and aspiration. A world
so dwarfed by its longing for power and control that evolution has become
anachronistic. Titillating, dangerous and omnipotent - all of the Orwellian
warning signs paving the individual's path. We enter this place at a
time when the universal mask worn by us all has become attached to our
face. This beautiful struggle of becoming who we are is what we have
strived to make visible for you tonight.
Bon appétit.
