Cheap Shots was probably one of the most important things we have
ever done, because it gave us an opportunity to venture into the realm
of original work. While we have occasionally performed new stuff, we
have never done a full evening of pieces written by us. The success
of that project convinced me to ask Jonathan Bender to write a full
length play for the '98 season to share a weekend slot with Susan Weigand's
Approach. Jonathan Bender appeared in Baal, directed Beckett's
Shorts for Subterranean Shakespeare, and contributed two pieces
to Cheap Shots.
